Palermo, 1937. Tommaso Scalia commits three murders: his superior who fired him, the man who replaced him, and finally his own wife. After these brutal acts he goes home and waits for the police. There is little doubt about what his sentence will be because during the fascist rule murderers received the death penalty. But then the judge, Vito di Francesco, decides to dig more deeply into the case.
